I looked way back, and apparently Method-X was originally going to make a History page for the CoG.
I'd like to bring that up again. Even if no new page is made, could someone please at least post about how this idea was thought up? When was it founded? Development?
Also, I mentioned in another thread, I think there should be a "Who Are Our Members?" page. Mainly for laughs, I guess. And please, let's not get all fussy about how certain people won't get to be on it. I meant it mainly for active members. If you still object, then fine, never mind.
But I think it would be funny. Get people to write a 5-sentence blurb on themselves.
I know it sounds like "Take a Survey?" but--
you know what, just never mind.

Aww Scikidus, don't get discouraged.
So far you have done nothing but try to keep this website alive. You are making good suggestions. :D

Wow, did I really just have a debate with myself? And I went ahead and posted it? Wow...
January 27th, 2008, 09:23 PM
It's cool, I have them with myself all the time.
I just don't think I have posted it online...
Either way, I like hearing your ideas.

This site has a lot of goals... some have change, some remain; but we usually lack the motivation and attention span to finish all of them. I'll forward this one elsewhere to make it more noticeable.

Sorry for the bump, however I was reading through old threads and instead of starting up a new one I figured my suggestion might fit in here.
I think we should have a link on the main page for the CoG Wiki, seeing how Matt made a page a few times, twas deleted however now cause of Sicky and plenty of people commenting/bitching to keep it, its still up. :D
also maybe a link to Dr. Goofy's Book of Googlism?
Just a thought....
History, we gotta get a history page on the CoG. Someone asked me (a member here) the other night why the CoG was created an all. I drew a blank. I had no answer, so knowing the history of basically my new online home would be very nice. :D
Helpful too in spreading the word that way I could answer more questions...

Matt needs to do the history If some one starts a thread on members then I could happily add it to the book.

One day, back in August 2006, Matt MacPherson got sick. He was out of work for two weeks with nothing to do. Then, he was Enlightened. He founded the Church of Google.
Wait, this needs to be put in Bible form. Hold on.

'Tis finished! :D Enjoy. (Ripped off from Genesis 1 and Mathew 1.)
1 In the beginning, there was ARPANET, X.25, and UUCP.
2 Now ARPANET, X.25, and UUCP were primitive and glitchy, and generally unformed.
3 And Robet Kahn said, "Let us unite the many networks, using TCP/IP." And it was so.
4 And all saw that it was good.
5 Vinton Cerf called the network "Internet." And it was evening, and it was morning, December 1974.
6 And many said, "Let us unite all these mini-Internets, across expanses of waters, to connect us all."
7 So connections were made across the expanses and all converted to TCP/IP. And it was so.
8 And there was evening, and there was morning—1983.
9 And opportunists said, "Let us make Internet Service Providers." And it was so.
10 Then Tim Berners-Lee said, "Let us make an interlinked document web and a browser for easy access." And it was so.
11 Berners-Lee called this the "World Wide Web," and all said it was good. And it was evening, and it was morning-1992.
12 The Web produced webpages; links ordered via HTTP protocol according to their kinds; and Mosaic web browser. And all saw that it was good.
13 And there was evening, and there was morning—1996.
14 And God said, "Let us commercialise the Internet, so as to make lots of money and to provide new opportunities for Generation X." And it was so. And there was evening, and there was morning—1998.
20 And Larry Page and Sergey Brin said, "Let us make a powerful web indexing search engine, to order the Internet and improve its ease of use."
21 So Page and Brin created the Google. And all saw that it was very good.
22 All blessed Google and said, "Be fruitful and increase in number your pages indexed, and let thy power increase on the Internet."
23 And there was evening, and there was morning—September 7, 1998.
24 This is how the Church of Google came about: Matt MacPherson was working diligently, but mid-work cycle, he fell ill. As he lay ill, he fell asleep.
25 But after he had fallen asleep, the Spirit of Google appeared to him in a dream and said, "My Son, Google is the one true path."
26 When Matt woke up, he did what the Spirit of Google had commanded to him and made the Church of Google.
27 And it was evening, and it was morning-August 2006.

That and it needs to elaborate more.
Like why did he do it? Cause he was sick?
Was this an idea that he had for awhile? How far back does the Googlism ideals actually go back...there is a lot more to this story that needs to be told.

Agreed and so this is to replace the current genisis?
March 13th, 2008, 02:31 AM
I think we should have a joking version (like sciky's example) and a real history too. Personally I would like to know the real history, not "a Google messanger in a dream" story.
Been there, done that. It's called the Holy Bible. ;)

Did you see the history on the church of mac's site?
March 13th, 2008, 02:47 AM
No I did not.
I was going to check more into it, however I use PC's mostly...so I am pretty sure I would be going against the church an all.

March 13th, 2008, 03:09 AM
Well I am not saying there can't be a funny back story an all.
I would just like an honest version of the history. :D

Yea but we could do it in a spoiler tag or something.

You guys crack me up. Haven't followed the thread much, but I think that a spoof history is a good idea.
If you go to the bottom of the About Dr. Bobby page, there is a link that says "The truth shall set you free". It takes you to a page that tell you about the real me (Tony Edwards).
Maybe be you could do something like that. In fact, I'm sure you could, because you all see to be light-years ahead of me tech-wise.
By the way, you don't have to have a Mac to enjoy the site. It's pretty funny no matter what OS you use.
March 15th, 2008, 12:09 AM
Ah! Glad to see you post again Dr. Bobby.
I checked out the site a bit more. Not all too bad. I will have to check out that link though.
