There was no mention of this anywhere, except referred to within other threads, so I thought, why not post one dedicated to courtesy, diplomacy, and the finer manners of all things net.

I'm no expert, just a beginner here in Forum rulings.

Some terms to ponder:

Internet Forum (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_forum)

Netiquette (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netiquette)

Posting Style (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Posting_style)

Threaded Discussion (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Threaded_discussion)

Electronic Spam (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spam_%28electronic%29)

Internet Troll (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_troll)

Internet Bump (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bump_(Internet))

Flame War (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flaming_(Internet))

Forum Moderator (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forum_moderator)

...please add some terms to this thread with their definitions, CoGists.

IF -

An Internet forum is a web application for holding discussions and posting user-generated content.[1][2] Internet forums are also commonly referred to as Web forums, newsgroups, message boards, discussion boards, (electronic) discussion groups, discussion forums, bulletin boards, fora (the Latin plural) or simply forums.[citation needed] The terms "forum" and "board" may refer to the entire community or to a specific sub-forum dealing with a distinct topic. Messages within these sub-forums are then displayed either in chronological order or as threaded discussions. In many cases a gateway allows access to the same data via an HTTP or an NNTP interface.

Such forums perform a function similar to that of dial-up bulletin board systems that were common from the late 1970s to the 1990s. Early web-based forums date back as far as 1996. A sense of virtual community often develops around forums that have regular users. Technology, computer games and/or video games, sports, fashion, religion, and politics are popular areas for forum themes, but there are forums for a huge number of topics. Internet slang and image macros popular across the internet are abundant and widely used in internet forums.

Hey, I just found the internet slang translator (http://www.noslang.com/), wanted to share it.

Just pop in a slang word that you don't know already, and voila, c'est parfait (http://www.comeparfaitwithme.com/images/hp_parfait_strawberry.gif), non?

Great idea, this thread, you devil, you!

:icon_twisted:

btw - I'm just using the [ ] when I want to add a bit more info to it, usually mood, but sometimes a [j] for joke, or an [s] for serious, and a [b] for both joking and serious together at the same damn time!

[lighthearted, playful, giving info] :icon_rolleyes:

Fuck. It's like the only one I don't know. I think it's Korean, though.

Chinese, if the first two results of a Google search for it are any indication.

My favorite part is that there's a link with an FAQ that asks "What is wlwldy?"

It links to a short thread started by none other than Rimmer_Dall. :D

Nope. It's definitely Korean.

maybe it's an acronym for the M*A*S*H song:

That suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
And I can take or leave it if I please

I try to find a way to make
All our little joys relate
Without that ever-present hate
But now I know that it's to late and...

The game of life is hard to play
I'm going to lose it anyway
The losing card I'll someday lay
So this is all I have to say

The only way to win is cheat
And lay it down before I'm beat
And to another give my seat
For that's the only painless feat

<etc, etc.>

Would someone care to explain to me exactly what just happened to my accounts?

I'm furious. Why are things like this allowed, with no good reason? Please tell me what happened to the accounts SD & GS. Before I lose it for real and go to yahoo, instead, or something.

Outrageous!

Maybe not create so damn many all the time? It's annoying everyone. I'd have done it myself a long time ago but I don't have the ability to delete accounts...

July 7th, 2008, 08:36 PM
Vexx, dear, those two accounts were the same ones they have always been. I just rearranged my handle names a bit for the effect.

Sorry, you can't seem to handle my account creation, but I have every right to post here as anyone, and I hate this kind of discrimination, and action without explanation.

I demand that some admin give me a very explicit reason why this has happened.

You do realize how f-ing much time it takes out of my friggin day to make up avatars, posts, sigs, threads it takes hours of thought and prep and then an asshole comes along and deletes them. Gone. Ridiculous, absurd. How dare you.

Vexx
July 7th, 2008, 08:40 PM
You have the right to post here, yes, among various other rights. But having a conversation with yourself isn't one of those rights, neither is creating more than one account when there isn't anything wrong with the first.
Discrimination or not, welcome to the interwebs. The ones who rule the boards are the ones who make the rules. You don't know your rights.

I'm not sure where it says so, but it's my understanding that multiple accounts are a no-no.

The mods of this site have been pretty lenient with you. It's my guess that they felt allowing you to continue is now too disruptive and annoying so they shut (some) of you down.

The rest of us can manage to get our opinions heard, have fun, socialize, etc, etc, just fine with one account. Why can't you? :icon_rolleyes:

You know....at first, I had no problems with you. You just kept pushing and pushing untill finally everyone decided to do something about this. Then you go off griping about rights that you can't even be sure you have and how it's discrimitory. How is it discrimitory if you're the only one doing it?

Basic answer to any question like this: Just deal with it and don't do it again. Simple. Usually mods/admins have their reasons that we are sure about before doing anything, so it's for the best.

I demand that some admin give me a very explicit reason why this has happened.

Easy, you're pissing a large number of members off with your multiple accounts, pointless conversations with yourself and generally nonsensical and idiotic posts.

You don't have any 'right' to post here, it's not your website or forum. Discrimination my arse. We have been tolerant of your antics long enough and certainly far more tolerant than most forums would be.

If you don't want to play by the rules then go somewhere else.

If I said that absolutely baffled, that would definitely be an understatement.

I need to talk to one of the other admins prono, Loki, or Fallen. The posts above seem quite daft to me. Fallen just approved my new names, I see no harm in having two accounts. Who, btw, is Bubble, then? What ever gives you the right to cancel accounts without warning? That is the stupidest thing I've heard yet. If you think I'm hanging around here further for more abuse, you're nuts. I had no problem with any of you, really.

Unless this is another joke on me, I can see no reason for it at all. It takes valuable time to work on this forum like this, I'm sure you can all appreciate that. I've offered several opps and for the most part people seem ungrateful, or even worse, offended or something by my presence here. I don't have to be here anymore, you can have your board left in peace, if you wish. I see it as spiritually abusive to go through this pain. There is no rule about alts at all, many places allow more than one, including this one. As for what you apparently see as talking to myself, or more accurately this is one account responding to another account, I think your reasoning is flawed in assessing this as bad posting. Why? It's just as if one were quoting another in a response as you would do with any other reply. I don't see the harm in treating them as individual accounts. Absolutely preposterous rules here, then, if one cannot make two or more accounts and have them communicate, then you are out of your minds, literally, that is a crazy, crazy, crazy stupid f-ing idea not to be able to have them, firstly, and two, not to be able to act on each one as individuals.

Why would you ever make a rule that would not apply to all accounts individually, regardless of who ran them...makes no sense, and not only that it is a retroactive policy, seeing how the accounts were created first, and then rules made up after. Indeed, childish admins who aren't even off braces...why would I listen to one anyway? What is a rule when life, fun, creativity are more important inner rules to follow, I believe, than any foolish, mistaken idea of a guideline, that has no bearing whatsoever upon the content posted here. It's so obvious that you want to just frustrate me and make me leave, because you do not care for my ideology. Furious, is not the correct word for how I feel, you have seriously f-ed up, what did you think, that I would not care. I see the persons involved as not only ignorant, but confused, stricken, way beyond abusive, just plain dumb, not thinking about the future of them, not caring about your own reputation as persons, not realizing the import of your actions or words, not understanding fully and completely what's been done.

I hope you understand my non-participation as quite correctly anger, and to be frank, just plain bafflement.

Whereever you learned basic etiquitte such as manners, treatment of others, diplomacy, or basic human rights you must go back and tell them they are mistaken in their teaching of it. Twas wronged here.

Deeply confused, sickened, and not just hurt, but frightened.

Goodbye.

Please feel free to talk to the other admins, they feel the same way about your posting behaviour as I do, totally unnecessary and for the most part bordering on the insane.

Your accounts have not been deleted simply because of the fact that they are multiple accounts, we have in fact tolerated them for a considerable length of time. The accounts were deleted because a growing number of members complained about them. You were asked not to create multiple accounts and you chose to ignore that request.

We don't have many rules and those we do have, with the notable exceptions of child pornography and similar, are mostly not enforced. However, when one member starts annoying other members and disrupting the forum we will take action.

The thing that concerns me is that art needs to be "seen" doesn't it? Otherwise I wouldn't consider it art - although a lot of modern art I have to remain unconvinced by, it has to be said - so who the fuck is she showing this stuff to? us? completely bonkers, bless her. :icon_rolleyes:

Grr.

Ok, I want to stick with my commitment to CoG & Seventh Coming until Pearl Harbor Day 2008. That was my inner date for The End of 7th Coming (then google is 7; 7th heaven.) I might go find other forums where I can integrate their info and use that as well. Goofy's is one, FSM and the Unicorn are two more, as is The Forum Site.

So, if I take a leave for a bit, come find me over there, or IRL, hey, what a concept. I can be reached easily via my email, PM, MySpace, or AIM me. Any changes will be kept up to date on my most current account on CoG, being this one.

So. Even though I said that this could be "Then, Google is 7," I will go with that for the moment, but I also might try to find an antethesis site where I can work with the theists. Then I can round out this debate a bit better. Too much destroy leaves me perplexed, wounded, if not outright abused = not a happy camper now.

<enraged as it were. uncomfortable with you...>

I will make 2 more threads to divide up this one. So, we can be "on topic." One to continue the contemporary art movement topic, and one to continue the multiple accounts gripe session and see if a happy medium/constructive crit. can be arranged. I'll be the bigger guy and give the forum my feedback on "how to treat strangers - respectfully??" Yes, you need to go back to the big book of diplomacy on this and rearrange your values...otherwise, it's war! And, since google is already in a lawsuit with yahoo...you can see that my leaving would not only be harmful to CoG, but abandoning the art movement theme would cause such a rift between us whose ripples might be more than is necessary for such a *cough* narrow-minded *cough* thought pattern as this *cough*
limited little wedge of the universe has revealed to *cough* US ALL! haha.

Well, I cannot help what is already in production <read: pop culture, ie - books, games, movies, music, art....> concerning MY MERELY POSTING HERE...OKAY! But, I can ignore or worse, violate your trust and all, but, why go there? Why eye for an eye you? I will again turn the my smote cheek and growl and spit venom elsewhere until you notice that indeed, I CAN AFFECT CHANGE on a somewhat monumental level. Enough said about that. The proof will be in the pudding.

Meaningless, maybe, but I just saw the X Files movie poster on a bus yesterday...hm, I wonder what that could be about...dunno? Hm.

:icon_rolleyes:

shit like that, I just enhance it...that's all, like a megaphone, an amplifier, a E ticket through Mr. Toad's Wild ride

OKAY?

Will splain more in the ART MOVEMENT thread. How lame is that? Very-very, but it's needed I ass-u-me!
