Canadians have a good reason to be thankful this year. We've been given a chance to get rid of Adolph Harper & his cronies earlier than anticipated. :icon_lol:
An election has been called for Tuesday, Oct. 14th, the day after thanksgiving weekend! :D

So, get out their & practice your civic duty fellow Canadians & vote this A-hole out of office.

Best of luck with the election. And don't eat too much! :icon_razz:

Actually, too darn good for my liking. :icon_evil:

Stephane Dion (Liberals) has some good ideas but would make a weak leader. Jack Leyton (NDP) has become too much of a 'politician' (plays to the cameras, everything that comes out of his mouth is designed to make for good sound bites), and Elizabeth May (Green Party) has no experience, and is also a woman (sad to say that sexism is alive and well in Canadian politics).

It's a toss-up between 3 tossers!

Does Canada have a power-sharing structure like other countries' parliaments with more than two major parties?

Oh you better watch it, or a nice nap will be creeping up cause of the chemicals in the turkey that make you sleepy. What's it called? Tryptophan? Or something.

Ummm. Yes, in that Stephen Harper did not get all the seats he needed last election to have a majority government. That means he could not ram through all the changes he wanted to make without getting the Opposition Party's (Liberal's) approval. But the Liberals didn't give him any opposition for fear that an election would be called & they would lose thus giving Harper a majority gov't. Stephen Harper has done so much to destroy Canada without a majority gov't, that it makes me shudder to think about the damage he could do with a majority gov't! :icon_evil: :icon_evil: :icon_evil:

I've been looking at the numbers, and my prediction is that Harper gets returned as a minority leader again, with no real change to the status quo.

Just saying. I have (occasionally) been wrong before.

I'll accept that *sigh* if I have to. The alternative (majority) is just way too scary for me to think about. :icon_evil:

Ya, well, history does insist on repeating itself, over (Bob Rae), and over (Mike Harris), and over (Mulroney) again. :icon_evil:

If con is the opposite of pro, is Congress the opposite of progress?

And Sis, at least they didn't get a majority gov't. I hope that offers a slight glimmer of hope.

Very slight glimmer. He managed to get more seats this time round though still not enough for a majority. Only something like 51% of the population voted. :icon_evil:
