The treaty to end the Second Discordian War

Clause one: Personal attacks based around the origins, staus or religion of members are unacceptable and will cease.

Clause two: The Googlists will renounce their demands to have the Asshats chucked out.

Clause three: The Asshats wil renounce their demands to have Sciki & Rzm demoted.

Clause four: The mods have the power to delete spam, pr0n without requiring permission.

Clause five: The mods have the power to edit/delete questionable content submitted by regular users, e.g. racist, sexist or just fucktarded (I.e. Series of Pain)

Clause six: If you feel that said mod is editing/deleting unfairly, you have the right to appeal to the ministers. Their collective decision has the power to overturn any modification.

Clause seven: If you disagree with said decision, you can appeal to the mods.
Their collective decision has the power to overturn any modification, and the ministers.

Clause eight: If you disagree with said decision again, you can appeal to the admins. Again, their collective decision has the power to overturn any modification, the ministers and the mods. Their decision is final, so STFU.

Clause nine: If you wish to appeal against any modification, you must first go through said process.

Clause ten: If a member requests certain information from the Ministers Lounge, then the ministers must provide it to them, unless they are currently debating about it, and leaking it will compromise the decision. Of course, everything that is posted in the Minister's Lounge should remain secret, unless requested or the whole church needs to know.

Clause eleven: There shall be a limit of four admins (Not including Matt), six mods and eight ministers. No one who is a member of one group can be a member of another. Not all places have to be filled, and the number may change if the Church (hopefully) grows big enough to need it.

Clause twelve: Serious Discussion is for serious topics, e.g. Politics, Physics. General Discussion is for chatty topics, e.g. Computer games, music. IFU is for bat fuck insane shit, and if threads get derailed badly and need to be split. The reason for the split is because some people will want to come here for different reasons, some to debate, some to chat. A balance is good, and the splitting enables us to do that.

Clause thirteen: Everyone involved in the "war" has to sign.

Clause 5 is fail to me as discussed yesterday.

Yes, but there's protective measures in place to stop abuses of that power. Likewise, it would only be used when you are being a total fucktard, i.e. posting pr0n.

Sooper Sekret forums are fail and any decision involving the board should be discussed openly to allow member input.

If there's a need for member input, then it should be and would be opened up to the public.

5 just needs to be chucked in IFU no need for deletion.

Generally we make a decision as a group ministers, mods, admins and all. The admin listens but it is up to them in the end.

Sometimes the information requested may not want to be given out even if it is not being currently discussed.

4 admins? I would go with 2 active would kinda be nice, 6 mods ok. Ministers do not need to be limited.
__________
Rev. Asshat I understand what you mean about always wanting member input. This site has however always done things with a ML in decision making of things to improve the forum or in things that require modding.
_______
rzm just saying you do not like it does not mean you can't put in some input ;)

Just my two cents, however this looks like just another rules/guidelines/code of conduct in the making.

Funny how forums are seemingly so difficult for everyone to just enjoy themselves without having to banzor someone or flounce or some other repercussion... some kind of feud. For years, I've played online rpg's and run and help run player guilds, and we've very rarely had these sorts of problems, in comparison with what I've seen in the last 6 mos. on forums.

Why do you suppose forums seem so much more complicated? Because we lack similar goals perhaps? When in a guild in a game, we of course are usually talking about things in the game we wish to accomplish.

One of my primary desires with seeking out forums such as this one and PD is the hope that I can find interesting collaborative projects to help with. This is the direction we need to be pushing imho, and leave the forum analysis alone for nao.

Nothing needs fixing. Nao let's make some cool shit.

Basically it is because this is a online community so people will disagree just like in life. But here you are allowed to be yourself so you forgo your nice nature most of the time.

I couldn't think of any goals you had, so I just chose that for clarity.

And likewise, I use the terms Googlists and Discordians for a lack of other identifiers. Calling them "people" would not work as we are all people.

Fine then, here's another version

The treaty to end the Second Discordian War

Clause one: Personal attacks based around the origins, staus or religion of members are unacceptable and will cease.

Clause two: The Googlists will renounce their demands to have the Asshats chucked out.

Clause three: The Asshats wil renounce their demands to whatever the fuck they wanted.

Clause four: The mods have the power to delete spam, pr0n without requiring permission.

Clause five: The mods have the power to edit/delete questionable content submitted by regular users, e.g. racist, sexist or just fucktarded (I.e. Series of Pain). However, they may only do so if asked to do so by a member of the church.

Clause eleven: There recommended number of ministers/mods/admins for the current situation should be of four admins (Not including Matt), six mods and eight ministers.

The Entire Site:
No direct links to pron and definately no porn images. And nothing too illegal, ie if someone threatens to kill themselves then tell them to grow up rather than go into an in-depth explanation of how to best achieve their aim. And no offering to provide the rope either!
And other stuff I can't think of.

Mild moderation in the Serious Bit - Maybe the odd subtle hint to bring the convo back on topic. Probably aimed at me :D

Tits get told to fuck off in General Discussion - Moderation only as the last resort - ie, no death threats.

IFU - as it says - House Rules Apply. The rest is up to you.

Does that sound ok? I'd call it Common Sense but there ya go.

There is a move to attribute blame (as in assisting suicide) to the on-line contributers...

Now let's be honest here - if someone threatened suicide on the net would you...
a) Get really worried and post them the number of their local Samaritans. Or:

b) Assume that they are 12 years old and in desperate need of attention?

Are you assuming that Discordians are, by nature, consumed by an Eristic Illusion, and elevate disorder and lack of rules as a desired form? That is as naive as the Aneristic illusion, in which one elevates order. Order and Disorder go hand in hand. Rules are a necessary element of any game.

On Discordian Philosophy of Order/Disorder - From Wiki:

"The Aneristic Principle is that of apparent order; the Eristic Principle is that of apparent disorder. Both order and disorder are man made concepts and are artificial divisions of pure chaos, which is a level deeper than is the level of distinction making.

With our concept making apparatus called "mind" we look at reality through the ideas-about-reality which our cultures give us.

The ideas-about-reality are mistakenly labeled "reality" and unenlightened people are forever perplexed by the fact that other people, especially other cultures, see "reality" differently.

It is only the ideas-about-reality which differ. Real (capital-T) True reality is a level deeper than is the level of concept.

We look at the world through windows on which have been drawn grids (concepts). Different philosophies use different grids. A culture is a group of people with rather similar grids. Through a window we view chaos, and relate it to the points on our grid (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grid), and thereby understand it. The order is in the grid. That is the Aneristic Principle.

Western philosophy is traditionally concerned with contrasting one grid with another grid, and amending grids in hopes of finding a perfect one that will account for all reality and will, hence, (say unenlightened westerners) be True. This is illusory; it is what we Erisians call the Aneristic Illusion. Some grids can be more useful than others, some more beautiful than others, some more pleasant than others, etc., but none can be more True than any other.

Disorder is simply unrelated information viewed through some particular grid. But, like "relation", no-relation is a concept. Male (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Male), like female (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Female), is an idea about sex (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sex). To say that male-ness is "absence of female-ness", or vice versa, is a matter of definition and metaphysically arbitrary. The artificial concept of no-relation is the Eristic Principle.

The belief that "order is true" and disorder is false or somehow wrong, is the Aneristic Illusion. To say the same of disorder, is the Eristic Illusion.
The point is that (little-t) truth is a matter of definition relative to the grid one is using at the moment, and that (capital-T) Truth, metaphysical reality, is irrelevant to grids entirely.

Pick a grid, and through it some chaos appears ordered and some appears disordered. Pick another grid, and the same chaos will appear differently ordered and disordered."

So you see, it's a little more interesting than "Discordians don't like rules!"

I'm also not quite sure why ppl keep defining an entire parody/religion based upon the actions of a few ppl from a single internet forum. While fundamental Googlism may have been born here, Discordianism has been around for decades longer than most of us have been alive.

Now let's be honest here - if someone threatened suicide on the net would you...
a) Get really worried and post them the number of their local Samaritans. Or:

b) Assume that they are 12 years old and in desperate need of attention?
Then take the piss out of every single word that their little, black, emo heart vomits upon the screen?

Here's the latest version:

Clause eleven: There recommended number of ministers/mods/admins for the current situation should be of four admins (Not including Matt), six mods and eight ministers.

Your objective is simple: World Domination.

Your motive is a little bit more complex: Hatred for all mankind

Stage One

To begin your plan, you must first clone a rich and powerful ceo. This will cause the world to choke on their food, paralyzed by your arrival. Who is this ripe bastard? Where did they come from? And why do they look so good in a robotic exoskeleton?

Stage Two

Next, you must seize control of the internet. This will all be done from a fake mountain, a mysterious place of unrivaled dark glory. Upon seeing this, the world will weep uncontrollably, as countless hordes of the religious right hasten to do your every bidding.

Stage Three

Finally, you must let loose your armies of destruction, bringing about a 1984 police state. Your name shall become synonymous with all that is wrong with the world, and no man will ever again dare point and laugh. Everyone will bow before your unbreakable will, and the world will have no choice but to elect you dictator for life.

Evil Plan (tm)!

Your objective is simple: World Domination.

Your motive is a little bit more complex: Hatred for all mankind

Stage One

To begin your plan, you must first traumatize a rich and powerful ceo. This will cause the world to sit up and take notice, overwhelmed by your arrival. Who is this criminal mastermind? Where did they come from? And why do they look so good in a corporate suit?

Stage Two

Next, you must seize control of the white house. This will all be done from a medieval castle, a mysterious place of unrivaled dark glory. Upon seeing this, the world will lose their minds, as countless hordes of computer programmers hasten to do your every bidding.

Stage Three

Finally, you must unleash your corporate takeover, bringing about an end to sanity. Your name shall become synonymous with the spice girls, and no man will ever again dare interrupt your sentences. Everyone will bow before your cunning intelligence, and the world will have no choice but to give you control of the planet.

To begin your plan, you must first seduce a pope. This will cause the world to slaughter a sacred calf to appease the gods, overwhelmed by your arrival. Who is this demented madman? Where did they come from? And why do they look so good in classic black?

Stage Two

Next, you must desecrate the town's water supply. This will all be done from a floating fortress, a mysterious place of unrivaled dark glory. Upon seeing this, the world will wet their pants, as countless hordes of the religious right hasten to do your every bidding.

Stage Three

Finally, you must tauntingly wave your thermonuclear missiles, bringing about something that's really metal. Your name shall become synonymous with metal, and no man will ever again dare refuse to be your prom date. Everyone will bow before your mind-boggling insanity, and the world will have no choice but to fall madly in love with you.

I think Bush tried step 3 to early.

There is no doubt that my accusers are correct in declaring that this very phenomenon tends to happen when I'm around. I don't know quite how I do it either.

There was a tiem when sombunal PDers accused me of actually causing them to post laem trolls at me, rather than interesting content.

Funny they apparently didn't see the correlation between that and the accusations Roger often gets for causing people to act one way or another, as well.

Is it Astrologically related? Do all Scorpios get their own Mind Lazors, or is there something else that causes it to occur? :icon_lol:

Just enjoyed myself.
Watched The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.
Started working on a beat and lyrics.

And had my mind blown away once or twice while talking to a neighbor.
