Does anyone have thoughts on whether or not certain demographics should be restricted on gun ownership ?

tagnostic

I don't have anything on the demographic's
but i am a gun owner,
i just don't keep them
at the house, they are at a friends in a gunsafe.
One is a 41 Navy Colt that I use to hunt javalina
the other is an
egyptian cedar stocked ak-47
cuz i'm paranoid
50 cal cap & ball
cuz they don't leave rifling marks and I'm paranoid

i kind of like the right to bear arms
keeps the gov't on their toes

Never had one, never fired one, in all probability never will. A few years back, we had a bugler, one of the neighbors called the cops, they got here real quick, and kicked the everliving shit out of him.
Another time a guy snatched a cd player out of my car - chased him and kicked his ass.
Both times fists worked just fine - if I ever had to shoot somebody, don't know if I could live with my self afterwords.

some people need killing,
i just think of it as
retro active birth control
but my personal weapon of choice is a knife
faster, quieter & more personal
i'm never more than arms reach from an edged weapon
if it's serious enough to kill someone
it's personal,
if it's personal i want to feel warm guts
and watch the light go out of their eyes.
if you can't deal with that,
don't kill

I really can't see the point of keeping a gun, especially for 'protection'.

By the time you find the keys to the gun cabinet, find the keys for the trigger lock, find the keys to your ammo safe and get the thing loaded up, any intruder will have had time to shoot you 6 ways from Sunday into next week!

Think a mugger will wait while you fish around in your purse for your gun? Forgetaboutit!

Lol, you sound like my girlfriend. And, generally I don't kill, except this ones I killed a chicken. It left a mess, and I had to clean up, so it's not for me at all.

cleaning up the mess

ever notice those grease bins

Good to know :)

tagnostic
February 12th, 2009, 10:00 AM
actually, that's not quite what i said
to state it simply in Lewis Carrol fashion

some people need killing
someone needs to do it
getting away with it
helps continue
the process

I still prefer live and let live philosophy. That's why I took civil instead of military service (mandatory for all over 18). Lasts twice as long, and you get to deal with the poor, sick, mentally challenged, old, disabled... still, for me at least, beats the military routine.

People, who when asked "how many fingers am I holding up" respond with "Fingers? I thought I seen a kitten...." should obviously be restricted...

Tsar Phalanxia
February 12th, 2009, 02:10 PM
I've noticed that people who own guns to “protect” themselves from the government are often the same people who support Israel in blowing away people who are de facto dependant on Israel. Just an observation.
IMHO the money and resources spent on guns for self defence would be better spent on addressing the causes of crime.

Tsar, that's what's happenin' kiddo, the causes of crime are live criminals and the guns are to help do away with the cause.

Aum...

I own weapons. For my own protection, and in a sense to protect my liberty. (If need be...)

I'm not sure exactly how I feel about the concept of restricting certain demographics. I'm curious about at whose discretion...

Hmm. Excellent question though, maybe I'll get back to you.

1879 Zulu declared a war on British colonial forces, some sources say it was because of Brits building a latrine too close to only sustainable water source in the area. This war lasted little under 6 months, till finally Zulu kings ware exiled, and land spited between colonial generals.
Another uprising happened in 1905, but it failed miserably as you might expect.

true anarchy is simply the belief that no one has athority over any other.
that acting on conscience is sufficient, and that you do as you will asl long as it does not impinge on anothers right's.
it gets a bad rap from that '20's bomb throwing crap,
real anarchists are pacifists until pushed in a corner

As far as owning a squirt gun, (class III) the last I heard, no mental test was a requirement, only the payment of a rather high Federal tax in order to buy a rather pricey weapon.

I have friends who own them, and I have fired them, but I would not choose to own one, for it does not fit within my needs/wants.

Our military and LEO's have propagated, falsely, IMO, the need for "more firepower", but no amount of lead slinging can replace the benefits and advantages of one well-placed shot.

Can you say "Sergeant York" ?

The ability to hit what you aim at is predominant -- it is far better to hit with a .22 short than to miss with a hail of .50 BMG fodder.

I also think there are rather specific laws concerning regulation of ownership of Class III stuff -- the last I heard, in case of a situation involving a Class III, local police enjoy very limited authority -- they must call in the Federales.
