what about this that i just thought of

it is impossible to create a perpetual motion machine. But i was thinking about our energy crisis and the only reason we don't have cars run on hydrogne is because it takes more energy to make it then to burn it (its too expensive) if we found a way to take out the hydro from water with less energy it would technically be a perpetual motion machine because when hydrogin burns it becomes h20 again.

why don't we build huge factories in the desert made from solar panels and use the electricity to get the hydrogin out of water? it would be free electricity creating free gas.

and yes, i can't spell :D

Hydrolysis (separating the H and O from H2O) is also very expensive. It would also make an insane amount of demand for water.

haha I guess you better be pretty sure about the whole thing.

I've had a couple of gentlemen use tats to say something akin to i love you forever, sometimes forever is not actually that far away from ending a relationship, but idk yet, the verdict is still out.

And, yeah, you can often change the meaning of tattoos to suit your new whatever it is you decide to do later on after all is done.

Here's a better idea: Don't get divorced. Make her get one also. Do it anyway because it's kinda romantic and all.

i am pretty sure that the demand for water would forever be less of a demand for oil, but you do have a point because they would have to bring water to the desert.

Hydrolysis by DC current takes more energy than it creates. In cases one uses high frequency high voltage impulses custom tuned in regards to other chemicals present in the water. This makes it highly impractical, since you have to custom tune the technology to water source - and YES it takes a lot of water. Containers need to be gold plated, same goes for electrodes, and electronics is quite expensive even if mass produced.

Agreed, but he did say solar energy. That's the way to go.

I know that there's no such thing as a free lunch (energy can neither be created nor destroyed...) but solar cuts out the middle man.
If only it was more efficient - hopefully nanotech can help that by increasing the available surface area in solar panels.

Give it time and I'm sure it will.

google_is_my_friend
February 23rd, 2009, 07:03 AM
in the long run, after building materials and ect.., it would work. Loki is correct, solar panels only take in 2 or 3 % of sunlight and turn it into electricity, once this is upgraded solar power would save everyones energy crisis

Tsar Phalanxia
February 23rd, 2009, 09:06 AM
1.Get solar panels that are 20% efficient.
2.Cover an area the size of Texas with them.
3.Solve ALL of the world's energy needs.
4.???
5.PROFIT.

20% ain't a problem

http://www.sciam.com/media/inline/is-the-sun-setting-on-solar-power-in-spain_1.jpg

This power plant in Spain offers more than 20% efficiency. And the profit is there also, since company charges for the power produced.

In Denmark, they have different ideas (my favorite)

That's a "SHELL" logo on the turbine in case anyone's wondering.

As far as mobility goes, hydrogen is really the way to go. It's cheap, all around, harmless and non toxic. Hydrogen fuel cells can power you vehicle for hundreds of miles on single refill, and water is only byproduct. Electric propulsion means it's fast, quiet and reliable. And solar can be used to power hydrogen filling stations

http://www.hydrogenthusiast.com/uploaded_images/solar-powered-fueling-station_7071-792603-792654.jpg

Everything has been thought of, just need some time to implement the stuff.
BTW, there's not a single bio diesel filling station in whole east Europe. Now, I use bio diesel, and my chemist friend makes it for me. This can be a great power substitute until hydrogen arrives

I have a couple of people who use bio-diesel
that come by to pick up my used fryer oil to make it
I used to think they were kinda wimpy until I met a welder
with a full size (1 ton extended cab) that runs on it,
it does kinda smell like a french fry when running though.

djura
February 23rd, 2009, 11:11 AM
I have a small Hyundai, chip tuned to 120 hp. Runs great on the stuff, drive it 100 mph on the highway all the time, and I love the smell. Don't need anything bigger/more powerful.
My friend has a full size 3 ton truck that I use sometimes - runs on bio diesel as well, and it seems even better than on regular diesel fuel.

Yeah, I can imagine the smell starting to get to ya after a while.
I get noxious from the real diesel burning, don't like the smell one bit. This way only get hungry after 30 minutes in the traffic.

Woah woah woah. Hydrogen? No thanks. For one, it's incredib;y dangerous, because if a car crashes, and the fuel cell gets pierced, guess what? Ka-BLOOEY! And if there's lots of other hydrogen powered cars around, then you're boned. Also, if such an accident happened in a busy tunnel, it would create a fireball that would reach up to 2000 degrees Celsius, melting the structure of the tunnel, and cause a massive ecplosion that would blast out of both ends of the tunnel, incinerating everything inside and immediately outside the tunnel.

All fuel burns. LPG has actually proven to be more safe than gasoline. With hydrogen tanks, even standard industrial ones, there is NO WAY gas blows up. I've used LPG om my BMW, crashed more than one time, including a direct hit in the LPG tank - no leeks and apparently I'm still here to tell the tail.

You have an ex's name on you already. So you think that would be a lesson learned, but nope! So lets get another tattoo of some dudes name who you claim you 'love' and might be pregnant from, but you don't know and even still it doesn't matter cause you're in love! :icon_rolleyes:
