I'm totally stealing your thread to do my own introduction! Uh...hi!

I was actually introduced to the site by a group of geeks I D&D with (during a discussion on religion, atheism, agnosticism, the Flying Spaghetti Monster, and The Church of the Sub-Genius). So far, I'm pleased! Pleasure to meet you all!

Heh. I'm relatively new (a few years) and I started with D&D 3.5. My group seems to be the only one I can find that is actually trying-out v.4, so I'm running with that right now. It's a little too casual for me, but there's really not THAT much change. D&D is all about the party you're with anyway.

Also, I never got into Warhammer. Maybe should've, but Magic turned me off of collectible anything back in junior high.

What? No... Really? :icon_eek:

I picture this as the birth of Christianity somewhere in the past.

Well, you're not too far off...however FSM is a bit more creative...hmm maybe imaginative is a better word.

Yeah, Bobby is a bit of a twat, Their hatemail section is full of fail too, compared to ours. Just random yellings, without any dissection of posts.

Actually, the hatemail here is pretty similar to the stuff over at venganza. To be honest, venganza received some hatemail that make the stuff here look amateurish (if I recall, there was one or two from a gentleman who seemed intent on sticking oars up one's ass). And Bobby's a twat, but not because he sells stuff. (There are members here who are interested in merchandising the CoG.) He's a twat because he takes issue with those who don't agree with him or kiss his ass, and as such bans them. And if there are any "true" followers of the FSM, I suspect they are few and far between. Most people who consider themselves pastafarians are pretty similar to coggers (and some even post here).

I've always liked the idea of the FSM including the marketability of the whole idea. It's nice to have something recognizable to those in the know, like the FSM fish. The whole thing is a fabulous idea including the fact that its introduction stemmed from a letter mocking the hell out of an attempt to get bullshit creationism taught in science class.

That said, if the founder has been a dick about the whole thing since then, I'm sad. He has a fantastic opportunity to serve as a beacon/spokesperson for the cause of reason and he's blowing it by showing that rationalists have huge egos (a point I don't necessarily agree with, but a common stereotype amongst non-rationalists/believers none the less).

Regardless, we're the cooler of the two, since we actually make sense.

The point of FSMism is to show that creationism doesn't make sense, and by extension (to a degree) religion in general does not make sense.

Over-moderation and the fact that if you don't agree with "Prophet" Bobby, it loses all its fun and/or you get yourself banned.

Because the bastard stopped us from posting :D
He got a bit pissed off with some people, no names, who didn't tow the line.

I used to love it there - the hatemail section. I never really made it to the forum. Well, I did but I met MPTrooper and we started having a little slagging match - then I got a shit load of emails about how to act in a forum.
My very first post and they tell me off :(

Oh rzm - you'd have loved it there in 06. We completely ignored the posts and treated it like a chat room. At one time I was three different people and I got a couple of hatemails published :D

Honestly mate :D
