I tried Google Chrome!

I really wanted to keep it, but my dad's a jerk, sho he totally deleted it, which wasn't cool. I hate IE!

I love it! I have been using it for a good 2 months now. The best web browser in the world. Only complaint is when I am on facebook and try using some apps it crashes but THATS it. Everything else runs so fast.. It kind of scares me ...

Examples? You want examples?

Like this new fangled Korean flat screen now in my possession. The driver wont unlock cool stuff unless you have a Vista.

Now does your OS command petty monopoly as such as Windows does?

it was a bit dodgy
i've got chrome for linux right now
just playing with it
still using mozilla for day to day
and epiphany for speed
seamonkey is amusing, but doesn't really have any screaming attributes
galeon is about the same
netsurf is stripped down and fast, but epiphany is friendlier and just as fast

buy the fastest processor machine they've got
about $50
get a net card if it doesn't have one ($8)
grab ubuntu and go
not a screamer, but a perfectly acceptable surfer
you can always pop in more ram
and add an ext hd later

I use chrome.
Best browser, in my opinion.

Firefox has the best plugins, but I don't use any of them.
I only use firefox for its firebug plugin. For 99% of my browsing I use chrome.

Also if you have a low end machine, firefox gets slow. Chrome is faster than Firefox on a low end machine, especially on Ubuntu.

I use Opera on ubuntu, because Firefox has serious issues on that OS.

tagnostic
January 19th, 2010, 01:51 AM
really?
I run firefox on ubuntu
and don't have any problems
I use chrome also, its cool
I'm just comfortable with the way
I've got firefox setup
I play with alot of them though
its always fun and sometimes run across
something really cool

There's a firebug plug in for chrome out now. I'd hate to JGI you. Not here, in front of all of these people. I use the developer release because it has all sorts of nifty extensions such as google translator or Gmail or even Google's new URL shrinker Goo.gl . It is pretty aewsome, and just so many themes!

I love chrome. It is like what I wanted Firefox to be, and for a long time there it was. Now alas the crown does't belong to my Chrome.

Downloaded Chrome for Karmic a while back. I was stoked they released a beta.
I <3 Chrome, but it still has some growing to do. Firefox has a more complete tool set atm. But I'm sure Google's browser will catch up eventually. It's already leaps and bounds better than IE ever thought about being.

tagnostic
January 22nd, 2010, 06:02 PM
concur,
chromes potential has yet to be realised
(alot like google wave, can't wait for it to take off)
and in the meantime, firefox is comfortable

tagnostic
February 6th, 2010, 04:29 PM
ok, new reasons to dislike chrome
it doesn't work with CoG,
it refuses to believe all the options are available
when logged on, won't even let you see the complete toolbar,
annoying,
I don't like its toolbar, it doesn't have an icons only mode, you have to manually delete all text,
with mozilla i get the file, edit, tabs ready to go
none with chrome,
despite rzm's love of it
mozilla is more user friendly

rzm61
February 6th, 2010, 04:53 PM

all i can say is,
rzm keeps telling me to learn all these hotkeys
its not his fault,
he doesn't remember the pre-gui days
can anyone say 'peachtree', wordstar, or any
of the other pre mouse software packages
that came with a keyboard layout?
I already know where the keys are,
I don't want to have to relearn 105 keys
for every piece of software I run,
thats devolution, I like functional gui
if i want to type I drop to terminal or log on here
then I can type all I want without relearning
same thing applies to video games, I want the mouse
and the joystick, not the damn keyboard
in short chrome makes me work to hard

:icon_mrgreen:

rzm61
February 8th, 2010, 05:23 AM
It's two keys! TWO!
Mozilla, Chrome, Konqueror all do the same with with the CTRL+T key combo.

so if i'm on any other machine

i'm working on someone elses box
pull it down, burn it, run it live and full access
to winblows filesystem, big fun

Speaking of Chrome..

What extensions do you guys have enabled?..

I have:

AdBlock (https://chrome.google.com/extensions/detail/gighmmpiobklfepjocnamgkkbiglidom): It is a very decent ad blocker, hides most things and makes everything nice and clean...

Goo.gl URL Shortener (https://chrome.google.com/extensions/detail/iblijlcdoidgdpfknkckljiocdbnlagk): I don't really need it, but it is a part of Google, hence it is good.

Google Voice (https://chrome.google.com/extensions/detail/kcnhkahnjcbndmmehfkdnkjomaanaooo): Awesome extension.. I use it most often; texting on any phone sucks when you can use the keyboard...

IE Tab (https://chrome.google.com/extensions/detail/hehijbfgiekmjfkfjpbkbammjbdenadd): Some websites are too stupid to even recognize Chrome as a browser.. Ah well, it is fixable with this extension...

I use Google Chrome and i find it to be efficient, simple, and all around faster than my other browsers (safari, firefox).
Its just got this feeling where there is no clutter, and everything is streamlined for perfect speed.
