View Full Version : Ministry?

Alice Shade

And I don`t mean minister just as "moderator of forum". (That`d be ridiculous, ne?)
Minister in true sense - aka one, who is willing to spread the word and cause around.
If you give an answer, please, give your reason as well.

For example, me. Yes, I am willing to try and become a minister. Reasoning?

1) I find Googlism to be an acceptable religion, and I think, that society would benefit from advent of Googlism (Googlism promotes ability to think, coupled with ability to research particular topics out of wide field offered - something, that is quite useful in most of intellectual professions. Not to mention, that Googlism does not enforces burden of rituals to be performed regularly. (Compare once-a-month voluntary Google Appreciation Day with five-a-day prayers mandatory in Islam.))

2) Googlism is quite fun to promote, while giving a good chance of honing argumentation/persuasion/logic skills, while proving, that Googlism is indeed, a viable and worthhile religion.

3) Furthering the cause of Google calls upon a lot of assets in person, thus giving a good excercise to imagination, and boost to creativity.

4) Last, but not least, my honor and pride, combined, tell me, that if I had started to follow a religion, then I might just as well apply myself to further it - and myself with it. (And no, I don`t mean socially or financially. It`s more of a sense of accomplishment, then anything else.)

Those are my reasons to aspire to Ministry. What about you? Do you want to be minister, or do you want to stay aside? Or you`re not sure, yet? And in either case, why?

I would definatly love to become part of the ministry, not necessarily the mods, as you specified. Googlism seems to be a great gathering place for thought. Were not a religion in the true sense of the word as you know, I like how you put it, no mandatory rituals, but we are a religion in that google is everything a god is described to be. In an age of video games and constant stimulation on the mind thinking becomes overlooked and is a skill not many posess any more. Googlism is a gathering place for the intellectual as intellect is not necessarily the measure of how smart you are but the measure of your ability to find information that pertains to you, your life, etc. and your ability to carry on a conversation, and everything else that is typically overlooked in todays society. I love this intellect and think that this is an amazing place to talk with other intellects about most anything. I try to spread the word to everyone I know as you never really know the true intellect of a person as they themselves know their intellect.

 and on a simpler note... :D Googlism is fun :P

Can the current ministers please NOT answer the poll because it makes no sense for us to answer the poll as it is. Also, I want to see the results without us.

So far it seems that everyone wants to be a minister.

But of course :D Everyone who is anyone should want to be. It's the thing to do :P JK. But it's a goal to work towards in the church, anyone who is a serious follower will most likely have the goal of becomming a minister.

Hmm, true but that really should not be the main goal in joining the site. I joined because the site was so damn funny and the forum offered me something of interest.

Do not confuze cause and reason.

It`s obvious, that joining church only to become minister is ridiculous thing to do. My question would be not exactly "Did you joined to be minister?", but rather "Was the church interesting enough for you to urge you to further it`s cause?".

I didn`t wanted to be minister, when I joined - I percieved (and still do, to some extent) this religion as a huge joke, and joined just for a few good laughs. However, the basic idea of Googlism is appealing to me, and after having sorted through the oughter shell of hilarity, I`ve came across intriguing core. Thus, right now, I do want to further the cause, because I deem it to be quite a good thing. If not for those around me, then at least for myself and my good mood.

I find that image humourous for some reason.

An internet vow of silence. :)

I would like to be one, I think. I already sincerely hope to write my senior philosophy thesis on the Church of Google (well, and other things too, but the CoG was the inspiration).

Well yes it basiclly gives people time to stop and think "Hey why should we obey a God that we don't Know exists we should just have a fun life with an Idol that has all the qualities of a God except a physichal being"

and also it would be cool :D

Alice Shade

There`s trouble with that. People keep thinking that imaginary god is better, because they can imagine it have all sorts of funky powers and rewards for followers.

One Day people will realise and we will be like gods :D j.k but your right, but for some people its hope I guess like I don't like the fact that after a loved one dies I'll never see them again but besides that I have no religions but this (There needs to be a Holy Smily)

I'd eventually like to be a minister on the condition that I don't actually have to take any of this seriously. :) It's all a big joke to me still.

However, I'm a mere neophyte, so it'll be a while.

If anyone wants to become an ordained minister, free to conduct marriage ceremonies etc. under the name of google. go to:

www.ulc.net

Its free and legal, and it blatantly abuses the bible to do what it does.

peace,

I'd definitely want to become a Google Minister. Googlism seems like a very interesting religion, and though it isn't accepted everywhere, I love it! I've brought up the topic in The Lord of the Rings Online gaming community, a community I visit very frequently, and they seem to love it! If I were to become a Google Minister I'd have a lot of fun promoting the religion and telling others about it, as I've already started doing.

Alice Shade

Well, go on, and do so?

It is possible to be promoted for working on spreading the word and moving the religion forward... Though, I won`t say, that it`s a cakewalk.

Pretty much when you are of use to the church and help out a lot, some one will vote for ya. Then you get added to the ministry list.

Oh and off topic here:

"We'll rant and we'll roar like true Newfoundlanders, we'll rant and we'll roar like nothing before"

Sorry, it was the first thing that came to my mind. Great band. Newfies are cool.

Random thought of the day, it came from one of my friends when we were in the pub.

"If The Church of Google becomes big enough to be a recognised religion will Ministers be able to perform marriages?"

Alice Shade
January 27th, 2007, 04:14 AM
Just as well, as any other religion, I believe.

After all, Church of Elvis does performs weddings, remember?

I would like to become a minister because I have been fighting other religions for years not to be so judgemental of others. Goolism is for everyone. It is not racist or homofobic. It lets people be who they are. For years I have stuggled for something to follow being a spirtual person but scientific to. Being a Software Engineer a computer God is logical, I mean all we are is Biological computers. The after life here also makes sense. In some belives the soul is held in the brain, if we put out brain in the computer and google stores it is that not like going to heaven in a way? All I am saying is alot of times Atheist and Agnostics just need something to belive in and this fits. Plus it is fun to promote also.

rzm61
February 27th, 2008, 02:01 PM
Agreed.
Promoting the CoG is one of my favorite things to do. However I do not force these beliefs onto anyone. That would be wrong.

Also, I have a question. When robots start to be mor eintergrated into society, say like I, Robot would they consider Google to be their actual God. Or would it be Man, seeing how we are their creator.

Well shit, the religious nuts will probabbly program them to believe in God and Jesus.

Dr Goofy Mofo
February 27th, 2008, 04:50 PM
Silly rzm religious nuts don't know how to program.

rzm61
February 27th, 2008, 04:55 PM
lolz
ha ha.

Not entirely true though. However there is probabbly some truth behind it. Seeing how programming is probably a sin in some way.

But imagine that. Religious people, building religious robots. :icon_eek:

It will be a sad day for the robot-kind when that happens.

Dr Goofy Mofo
February 27th, 2008, 05:43 PM
I think robots would be a sin againest god and most programmers understand logic and religion is ill-logical. Religious robots would scare me they would probally have an army lead by http://www.phillyburbs.com/superheroes/images/bibleman2.jpg BIBLE MAN!

rzm61
February 27th, 2008, 05:52 PM
Well most programmars probabbly wouldnt even bother to put religion into their robots.

Robots are usualy built for a specific purpose. Religion is usually not their purpose. Unless we are talking about futurama here with the one preist robot.

Dr Goofy Mofo
February 27th, 2008, 06:02 PM
True, but in all seriousness(which I am not known for) I think robots are a bad Idea. I mean we have so many unemployed people and we are over populated robots would just make this worse if you think about it.

rzm61
February 27th, 2008, 06:05 PM
That is if they use the robots to replace man power.

However they will always need a repair guy. ;)

Robot's aren't a bad idea as long as we don't use them for labor instead of men/women. If we use them as tools and helpers it might be able to work.

Dr Goofy Mofo
February 27th, 2008, 06:14 PM

Dr Goofy Mofo
February 27th, 2008, 06:21 PM
That I see being a problem I mean look at all the nerds already to afraid to go out if they have this then more people living in there parents basements. I guess the over population would help because then they would start to die down since we are banging robots now. It just scares me.

rzm61
February 27th, 2008, 06:24 PM
Nothing to be scared about.

The main thing when it comes to being scared with robots is them revolting and having a revolution. That is the only thing that bothers me. HAL 9000 like robots. :icon_eek:
