The irony is that a book about banning books is under consideration for being banned during book banning week. The sad part is, he just wants to shield his daughter from real life, and the "downgrading of Christians" he objects to is not downgrading of Christians at all, merely an honest eye at a few Christians. Just like anything else, the actions of a few don't represent all of Christianity (although it is a closer comparison than that man might think).

WTF?
I'm wondering if maybe the people who want to ban this book want a world without free thought, where all books are banned (bar the bible).

Wow, I think they need to get a grip on reality.
And since it's the US, They won't ban it. It's a classic.

Don't be so sure, if it is the south, there are SOME places where God comes before freedom. That is possible the worst thing I have ever seen. I volunteered in a library, I hate to see people going about banning and burning books because of content that one person does not agree with perfectly.

Yes, the book has a chapter about burning the Bible, but the burning is viewed as a very negative thing, as a hammer blow against free thought. What kind of moronic Christian objects to a book saying it's wrong to burn the Bible?

One that does the see beyond the lines, does not consider the whole book, one who is blinded by the word 'fuck'.

Communities ban book because they think they are either inappropriate or convey the wrong message to children. Many older books that schools have children read have been banned, for example Lord of the Flies has been banned and I see no reason. It's and excellent book that used sophisticated symbolism to give deeper meaning to the actual story, but apparently it sends a wrong message and has been banned by some U.S. communities.

Lord of the Flies is banned some places because the Christian word for "devil", Beelzebub, means "Lord of the Flies" in Hebrew.

Do not Ban books
and never ever burn books...
The Nazi's in Germany burnt books as did the Americans all through the 50's. Think for a moment about Edvard Reich..his lifetime of writing was publically burned in America in the 50's some time around the time they electocuted a man and wife, the Rosenthals.
You really think that they are not working on ways to burn the internet as well..if they could then they would..

And also if a book is bad put it in the adult section so children cannot check it out.
