View Full Version : Clinton 08

Time to run and hide....Hillary Clinton wants to run for office.

Far be it for me to bash American politics (I'm such a liar), but I really see little difference between Clinton and the current NeoCons, at least in terms of foreign policy. Along with Dean and Obama, the only other contender I can currently see, that makes three in the liberal camp who want to wage a pre-emptive war against Iran.

And that makes me a sad panda, not because I give a shit for the Mad Mullahs, but because I can see a whole host of problems that will make Iraq look like a cakewalk.....and now is not a good time for disruptions in the Middle East. The repurcussions will be global.

The question for the Dems will be, which would America prefer first: a black president, or a female one?

I haven't been watching American news lately (I'm in Sweden), has Dean announced that he intends to run as well?

Also, Cain, one of my friends is studying at St. Andrew's this semester.

I haven't heard anything from Dean yet, so I don't know. I can see him making a good VP however, so he may try that route.

Yeah? I must say, the Swedes do seem very well represented up here. Particulary on my course! I mean, I expect a few people from everywhere, but its turning into a Scandanavian enclave up here....:icon_wink:

I just hope it's not Hillary. I think that Obama would be a good candidate, but it depends on who the other contenders take votes away from in the Democratic Primaries.

Bill Richardson has thrown his hat in the ring. I don't know much about him to be honest, except that he's the Governor of New Mexico.

Obama seems good, but his foreign policy is very hawkish, closer to the NeoCons than anything else. And of course, as a Dem President will likely increase internal spending as well, there could be alot of strain of the economy. Guns and butter indeed....

Oh, but this is a friend from back home in America. Not a Swede. =P

I just gave a cursory glance over the candidates at http://www.issues2000.org , a really invaluable site for any voting American. While I don't want Hilary to win the nomination because I don't think anyone will vote for her, she and John Edwards seem most in line with my own views. Except on drugs; it seems ALL politicians have fundamentally retarded views about the war on drugs.

I, personally, am pulling for Kuinich. If push comes to shove and he drops out of the race, I'll probably move over to the Obama side. I've never had anything against Hillary, but I don't completely trust her for some reason.

But Kucinich is my favorite contender...sadly though, I fear he will get squashed by the giants, yet again.

Which reason? I can think of many off the top of my head.

Which reasons do I have for not trusting Hillary? I guess because she voted for the authorization of the Iraq war, and has yet to admit that that was a mistake, as far as I know.

Kucinich opposed the war from the begining, citing that there was no definitive proof of WMDs and no good reason given by the administration to invade Iraq.

What other reasons do you have? I'm always glad to hear more on this subject.

Hillary... uhhhhhh.

If I were American, I'd vote for Obama. Hillary likes what you like; shes for whatever the greatest percentage of people are for. Mass appeal may be a requait for politics, but I just can't maintain respect for those sort of people. Obama seems a bit more idealistic, which I can respect.

Obama for President.

Kudos,
Matt

I'm for Obama so far as well. It's a little too early to decide, though.

The last post before yours was over a year old, and there's a much more recent politics thread. Was it really necessary to exhume this one to add this mostly OT comment?
