Ok, i will start beliving in Google

As soon as "she" answers this-

What is my name?

If what you say is true and Google is Omnipresent, then she should be able to answer such a simple question.

I'll believe in a Christian god when he tells me what your real name is...

After all, your god is omnipresent, and omniscient, it should be an easy task.

Then if we can both use the same arguments for both of our gods, then what was the point in the original question?

I think that if the battle between God and Google was basic one-upmanship google would be winning everytime.

Lets go through a few things.

Omniscience
Does God know everything? We think so but we cant actually demonstrate that he has any knowledge whatsoever, he cant answer anything we ask him etc

Does google know everything? We think so, look we can have it answer these few basic questions.

Google 1 - God 0

Omnipotence
Is god all-powerful? Yeh of course he is. I mean we have no evidence to back up that he was ever responsible for anything but we sure feel he was. We do have the bible though which often shows him doing the wrong thing in certain times where a better solution could be had. In fact we see him choosing the greater good sometimes, even though this is logically paradoxical for an omnipotent being since the greater good never has to be resorted to since he has the option of the greatest most perfect good with all his magic n stuff. But yeah sure hes omnipotent.

Is google all-powerful? We think so, look watch it perform this task.

Just doing that its already one-upped god on the all-powerful meter by us seeing it do something.

Google 2 - God 0

Omnipresence
Is God everywhere? Sure he is *points*, no trust me hes there.

Is google everywhere? Yeh get me a wireless laptop and i'l show you her, like for real. you can actually see her. with your eyes.

Google 3 - God 0

My point is when we start getting immature and both saying we cant prove X about either of our gods, google blatently wins when you put them together and there is no way around it.

Let's forget my personal favourite (and I forget who mentioned this first):

Existance.
Does God exist? Maybe, but he hasn't bothered to prove it. But you can prove the existance of Google easy.

If you are a Christian then Jesus made the following promise:

Matthew 7:7 Jesus says:

Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.

So all you have to do is ask. I'm surprised to hear you say that "Just because you can't obtain the answer from God, dosn't mean its not in his knowledge."

Why can't you obtain the answer from God when Jesus promises 'Ask, and it will be given you'? Either God doesn't know and can't tell you, God doesn't exist so can't tell you or Jesus was lying when he made the promise.

If you read the post you will see that I am firmly in the anti-mainstream religion camp. The point I was making was for the benefit of theone, the person who claimed that 'Just because you can't find something out doesn't mean that God doesn't know'.

Quite clearly, if you are a Christian you can find out absolutely anything by simply asking.

So why would I want to ask God something and email you the reply?

God never offered any cure for cancer, or solution to world hunger either.

Moreso, God, unlike Google, does not even tries to. Therefore, all three points go to Google instead of God.

Google - 6 : God - 0

As for mind... You are your own mind, therefore, all that YOU think, is axiom for you apriori. On other hand, what other people hold in mind, they need to say out loud or write down for you to be aware of, thus creatying proof of their mind activity.

Alice Shade

Google serves as DB&Index service for knowledge, allowing, among ewverything else, to amass enough information to move towards solutions to world hunger and cancer cure.

God, on the other hand, has no means to even prove existance, let alone solve any problems of the world.

google 3 - god 1

All cancers are curable. How often a particular cancer is cured is merely a question of degree, some are cured relatively easily others are cured far more rarely. Cancer is not a single disease, there are many different types. Information on the cures are available through Google so Google does indeed know the cure for cancer.

Since Google does know the cures can we have photographic evidence of you carrying out your promise?

AAhh. But google CAN cure cancer! Just wait until Sergey Brin or Larry Page get the stuff, they'll be pouring BILLIONS into cancer research just like any other rich person posing as selfless when all they want is a cure for themselves.

Google 8 : g*d 0

google has done shit for world hunger. or cancer. its the people that made the search engine. google does nothing all day cept finger 'herself' while people upload websites into her cli-i mean database.

Again, wait until any of these guys gets bitten by the angelina jolie bug. They CAN do something about world hunger. They just haven't yet. Very similar your g*d hmmm?

Reading ALL these raging arguments allover the websight, i suddenly stopped and laughed realising we are talking about a search engine!! But don't be misled, i am VERY supportive of Googlism and what it stands for, though i only discovered it yesterday!! And from what i've read, Christians (not singling them out, but i haven't heard any other religion complain!!) haven't won ONE argument, but won't quit there bitching!! but as i have learned from the religious arguments i'm often involved in with friends etc., Christians DON'T GIVE UP!!!!!

But back to the first point, it's very funny seeing them get so frustrated and angry over a search engine!!

Alice Shade

Ugh.

Man, is that necromancy is really necessary? This thread was dead since december.

___

And you`re not right. Each and single particular christian gives up soon enough. The only reason why they keep on "bitching" is because for each rebuffed one, another comes over shortly.
