I thought it was about time we had one of these threads here. I'm always interested in what people listen to.
So right now, it's 6:54 am Saturday morning here in Australia. It's a beautiful spring day, and it's time for some loud music.....
I'm listening to the 'Desert Lights' album by Aussie band, 'Something for Kate'. It's the first album of theirs I've ever bought because up until now, I didn't like them, but I just love this album.

Damn!
If i put my entire list here it won't end, but here's some headlines:
Metallica
Dream Evil
Rhapsody
Alkonost
Amon Amarth
Arch Enemy
As i lay dying
Zakk Wylde
Saturnus
Volbeat
Cradle of Filth
Type O Negative
Basically, anything heavy metal (no, i do NOT listen to blink 182, sum 41, green day (only the old stuff like Dookie), simple plan and other teenage "hey i can write depressed shit with distortion on my guitar, we're heavy metal, or at least we think we are" bullshit)

I'm waiting for Steam to get ready downloading Half Life 2: Episode one.

Currently: Korn - Le petite mort (Last legal drug)
I usually have whole discographys of bands I play through, and after I play it so much it gets annoying I switch to a new band and cycle around. ^^; Methinks Greenday is up next (I agree, their old stuff is so much better, but I don't dislike their new stuff at all. Kerplunk/Insomniac = Their best stuff in my opinoin. ^-^)
Also coming up soon: Marilyn Manson, Tsunami bomb, Tool, and The CURE.

I suppose this would be the part where I jump in and point out I'm from West Australia. At least, it would be, were I not rather uninteresting in football. So that opportunity is kind of lost.

I seem to do the same Nanashi. Right at this moment I'm listening to Tom Waits - Give me an art grant. Older stuff, I know, but I never get sick of hearing it. I've got a heap of compilations (Limewire's brilliant for that!) Don't know how much longer Limewire'll go for though. Read a story yesterday that they're being dragged through the courts by the big recording companies for copywright violations. Have to start downloading FAST. Anyway it's a beautiful sunny morning here in Oz, and I'm cranking it up.

When limewire dies, there will always be another to take its place. Look into BitTorrent. Pray to Google about it, you won't regret it. Also, limewire uses an open network to find its songs called Gnutella. There are hundreds of other clients out there that also use Gnutella. So no worries. Trust me.

Aaah .. I wondered how Gnutella fitted with Limewire! Downloaded BitTorrent not long after we hooked up to wi-fi , I know that's it's really popular, but I was a bit unsure about the file-sharing system (remember I'm still quite a novice with all this stuff!) Will take another look at it - also had Bit Comet but I felt as if I needed a degree just to understand how to use it!

I personally use BitComet as well. Take the time to learn how to use it as a swear on a stack of Google searchs that it'll be worth it. :D
Once you have in installed, use the following sites to search for stuff to download:

I also use bittorent for file-sharing, but the creators of bittorent said themselves you'd be a fool to share copy right material over bittorent, because it makes no effort what-so-ever to hide your IP.
But, of course, there are ways to disguise your IP address.. I used to use some open-source program that did this, but it's been quite a while since I have heard anything new about it.
Edit: Personally, i'm hopeful that micro-payments will be put into play. I'd gladly pay $2 directly to the artist for their music than $15 to their record label where they split 90% of it up between everyone else, and the artist gets $1.50 out of the deal.

In the US they came out 2 days ago. I like it compared to the ipod, big screen makes is easy to watch videos and show off pictures. It has a click-wheel instead of scroll wheel, but i really didn't notice any difference. I like the way the software is set-up too. Much better than iTunes. You make one list of things then sync to the Zune, while with the ipod any time you transfered something it made you wait a bit.

I don't need any of that video crap, to be honest. So I didn't mind that about the Rio.
The only advantage an MP3 player has for me over a discman (what I used all throughout high school) is that it's smaller and has a lot more capacity--even one with just 512 MB is what, 100ish songs if your songs are averaging 5MB each? Anyway, the Rio was little and it took me a couple minutes to figure out the controls, I ended up having to listen to my brother's music because it wasn't playing nicely with Linux and I didn't have time to figure that out, but we have similar taste in music so that was okay.
I'm going to start looking into buying one, I think. If I can find one that has Vorbis support that'd be dandy--I have no idea how rare that is or not.

Inventory taken, you hand all that good shit over to me
Step Five
Having divined I am the real thing you get down on your knees
Step Six
....and humbly ask me to remove your underthings
Step Seven
And make ready for me to do mah thing
Step Eight
Naked now you're ready to understand mah kind of lovin'
Step Nine
Lovin men ,lovin women ,lovin all God's creatures
Step Ten
And in turn you're divestments having been completed
Step Eleven
Ah get turned on by you,and in turn being turned on by you
Step Twelve
I know you're ready to become a disciple,a lonely little reverend
making his way day by day,in the congregation
Hustling a dollar here, a dollar there, selling pictures of The King
to bring back to the coffers of the all powerful all holy Reverend Doctor D.W.A.Y.N.E
Love first Reverend of The First Presleytarian Church Of Elvis The Divine."

I just picked up a CD I ordered and am listening to it now. It's called 'Rogue's Gallery' and is a collection of traditional sea shanties - 43 of them to be exact. It has the likes of Nick Cave, Jarvis Cocker, Lou Reed, Loudon Wainwright III, Jack Shit and various others singing these songs in all their rude, rollicking glory. It's just great - I can almost smell the scurvy. :D
