Isn't it amazing how many religions insist on celibacy for their 'holy' men and women?

I guess we should actually be thankful for this as it effectively removes them and their 'holy' genes from the gene pool or it would if they actually kept to their vows ;)

Taken to its logical conclusion there is actually no requirement for anyone belonging to a religion that believes that God created man to actually reproduce. If the number of followers start getting a bit low then God can simply 'make' some more.

Of course, he will only make more of a particular sect if he believes that they truly are 'the ones', if they aren't he wont bother and will just allow them to die out.

What a great way for religion to find out which is the 'true' faith.

Come on religion, put your money where your mouth is, insist on celibacy for all of your followers and let's see who God deems worthy of creation ;)

Good argument, sound logic. Unfortunately that will probably exempt most religions from even considering your proposition. What a Pity they don't 'see the light' they always refer to.

They could always head out to the deep dark jungle and convert some poor unsuspecting tribe when numbers get low....or be like the Catholics and atone for the fact that their priests are celibate {paedophiles} and ensure a continuous flock by outlawing birth control. I'm not too sure that this will maintain quality holy genes, but there'll be plenty of kids to play around with....

Jillamanda you really are the limit, very funny (or it would be if it wasn't so tragic) ;)

Funny no theists have picked this one up yet though
