A lot of the arguments against Googlism I have seen thus far seem similar to those posed towards Scientology, which is considered a bona fide religion.

One of the things I researched for Google Appreciation Day yesterday was how religions become sanctioned by the state as "official". To be honest, I came up with very little information. If anyone else comes across anything, please let me know as soon as possible. If we put our minds together, I'm sure we can do this. If Scientology can do it, we sure can. The parody reputation we hold could pose a problem however.

I'll see what I can find on criteria. I think there is something in the States that you have to have a physical place of worship for it, but that was just heard in passing.
