Default Re: The Korea's

third that, i'm a big Korea nerd.

@Tsar: Koreans definitely think of themselves as "one country, sadly divided" but also it seems that popular opinion about what to do with the North is shifting toward a more conservative line, if the election of Yi Myung-bak is any indication. After ten years of the relatively open and conciliatory "sunshine policy," he's been quite the change-up.

Of course, there seems to be a lot of resentment towards President Yi by the younger generation (and I think by some of the so-called "386 generation" as well, though it was hard to talk to the average "Korean on the street" about politics while i was there, since I don't speak Korean) so maybe this is one of those situations where a few members of the older generation managed to shanghai election results in voting oddities/apathy/whatever.
