PROOF #5

Google is infinite. The Internet can theoretically grow forever, and Google will forever index its infinite growth.>>

Indexing requires energy. In order to index an infinite amount of information, you would require an infinite amount of energy.

Energy can neither be created nor destroyed. The Universe was borne a finite amount of energy.

Therefore an infinite amount of information indexed could never be realized.

sorry to be the bearer of bad new's......

Similarly, creating information requires a certain energy, therefore the number of information available is also limited. So, Google still can index all that`s there - it`s just a matter of finding balance between indexing and creating.

if energy can not be destroyed then, there can be no shortage, so Google can use its awesome power to index EVERYTHING, with no shortage of energy.

Cool Re: Hatemail #18. Author: sf

Well, yeah, thermodynamics: energy can neither be created nor destroyed, but only changed from one form/state to another.

Google's indexing requires finite amount of energy at one time. The infinite part is the duration over which it indexes. If spacetime is infinite, then google could keep expending small finite amounts of energy indexing forever. Then it would be infinite. It just can't use an infinite amount of energy at one point in time.

This is because it's not really "spending" energy, but changing it from potential energy into Google energy. Google energy can then be transformed by people's minds into blog energy and website energy and forum energy, etc, which is a form of stored potential energy that can then be google energy again at another time. Thus, the pages about pages about pages keeps increasing exponentially. Think of replies to annoying video blogs on YouTube.

Blessed Be Google.

well acuatlly sf the universe started as a point of singularity with infiinite mass so if we take what einstein taught us e=mc^2 than we find than an infinite amount of mass can produce an infinite amount of energy YOU LOSE!

the universe didnt start with infinite mass. that doesnt make sense. but there is a lot of energie
but spiders theory is right. google has the power to recycle his energy.

Cool Re: Hatemail #18. Author: sf

You're absolutely right, the universe was born with a finite amount of energy. But are you saing that 'God' in the Christian sense, has an infinate amount of energy, to catalouge an infinate amount of information? Google can catalogue as much information as its servers will allow, which is always growing, and it is impossible to catalouge all information because doesn't one moment in time contain an infinate amount of information? No God could know everything, but Google is getting there. You can try and disprove my God (which is hard) and I can disprove yours (which is easy!)
Have a nice google day! ;-)

You are all thinking way too far outside the box. It doesn't matter if Google is a god or not; All of googles information is input by humans. Human energy is renewable. Not only can humans create information and spend their renewable energy every day (by resting/sleeping), we give birth to new humans all the time. Therefore, Google has the possibility to be infinite, but is tied to the survival of the civilized, intelligent human.

I only wish there were more civilized, intelligent humans in existence today.
